After I changed the start up options to enable "Start Bitmessage on user login" and "Start Bitmessage in the tray" Bitmessage was unusable for me. The application would be running but it did not appear in the tray or as a running application in the taskbar. I could not access the BitMessage user interface at all. I could kill the processes and then relaunch but the same thing would happen. I fixed the problem by creating a new keys.dat and replacing the configuration in my old keys.dat with that of the default configuration. Also, I noticed in the old keys.dat file that the variables that had been changed to true had the first letter capitalized instead of remaining lower case. I'm running Windows 7 64 Bit. Haven't tested in Linux yet.

Well that is a problem isn't it!
I've fixed it in the latest code online and I suppose I will create an updated binary tomorrow.
Thank you for reporting.
